The most balled up car I've ever seen on stage. Sucks, he'd pretty much kept it clean all season.

Any footage?

Yikes. Pretty much wrapped the bodywork around the cage. That's what a serious cage will do for you.

Not that anybody has found. The crash wasn't very close to any spectator points, so nobody has any footage of him crashing.
David Higgins hit the same mound of dirt that caused Block to roll and it put him up on two wheels, nearly causing his Subaru to roll as well.

So far only aftermath, seems everyone was at the hairpin 1/4 mile up the road.

Damn, I want to know how many times it rolled to do that.

Actually it was just a couple corners after a spectator point, but said point was a hairpin so everyone was there, no one expected anything photo/video worthy from the innocuous R6>5 afterwards

Alex (co-driver) told me it was five or six.

Wow, that's a mess. No wonder it didn't make it to the awards Saturday night. All I had heard was that they had an off, this is the first I've seen of how bad it was. You've got to give credit to the cage builders and some luck there. Since I've seen no mention of injuries I assume they don't have anything worse than bumps & bruises?

Yeah, they're fine. Just a little sore and very disappointed. Car's a total write-off. Alex said it was the most damage they'd ever done to a car, way worse than Portugal.
Hope I didn't come of as standoffish or anything at expose. I'm a little socially awkward in general and when we met I still had to get rally time and the start order (along with a few other issues that needed to be sorted) so I was a little distracted. I apologize if I seemed like a bit of a dick.

No worries. I figured the last minute before a race isn't really the best time to have a light conversation. Having played hockey and stuff I'm pretty familiar with last minute nerves.

Actually expose's usually a great place to chat, I just needed to take care of my business first. If you'd found me after the driver's meeting I would've been much less distracted lol

FWIW, it doesn't take anywhere near that much damage to total a production-based race car, by the way... pretty much any decent hit to a fully seam-welded chassis means you need a new shell. The reason being is that a stock body localizes the damage, whereas a seam-welded one causes the damage to ripple through the whole body shell. And you can't straighten a seam-welded chassis either because it's too rigid.
IIRC I read somewhere that a typical professional racing car takes 800 manhours to build.
Of course, for someone with sponsor money like Mr. Block, building a new car is no big deal.

Well then, that's what I get for not checking Oppo before heading out! Living in Houghton means it's kinda hard NOT to attend. Also I take it you were in the Yaris Dusty? I would have stopped at parc expo!
